Cherry Breeding Workshop
November 5, 2015 – Fundación Chile, Santiago. Last november 5 international experts visited the Cherry Breeding: Nnadozie Oraguzie (WSU,USA), Mirko Schuster (Dresden, Germany), Gregorio López (Murcia, Spain), Robert Andersen (IFG, USA) y Geza Bjudoso (Hungary). Each of them had participated in successful genetic improvement programs.
The Cherry Breeding Workshop in Fundación Chile, was attended by the Technology Capability Manager at CORFO Marcela Angulo, the National Director of INIA Julio Kalazich, the President of Biofrutales and Fedefruta Juan Carolus Brown and participants from the industry and the academia linked to growing and development of cherry trees.

Our international participants presented their experiences in genetic improvement and chilean researchers showed the national developments in breeding and biotechnology in the species. This allowed to know international experiences in the genetic improvement of this species, and provided better knowledge of the way that PMG INIA/Biofrtuales cherries operates, which provides the opportunity to refine and validate the proposed methodological strategy.
