The purpose of this project was to achieve the identification of genetic markers that can be used to select new segregators with features associated to fruit quality, but is also of interest, yield and tolerance to diseases and pests, aspects that are all genetically inter -related to some extent.

For this purpose, a strategy was developed (which has also been the basis for further initiatives), based on the search for statistically strong partnerships between phenotypic measuring and genetic variations studied at the level of alleles of candidate genes located in a genetic linkage map, all based on having one (or more) segregating populations presenting variation for the studied characters.
