Table Grape Breeding Program

Chile is the leading exporter of table grapes, with USA, Europe and Asia being the main destinations. 89% of the exported varieties have been developed abroad, which can pose a difficulty for producers who want access to new varieties, since they are not public domain and breeders can limit access to them.

This initiative aims to integrate biotechnological tools to improve efficiency and shorten the preparation phase of new varieties of table grapes that meet demands of producers and consumers.
