Stone Fruit Postharvest Markers
Chile, due to its location, is forced to use refrigerated storage to export its products, creating problems of postharvest such as chilling injury. Midseason varieties resistant to this disorder are not yet available, as developed crops are used in countries with different postharvest demands.
The aim of this subproject is to obtain markers of chilling injuries in peaches and nectarines, which may be used in assisted selection programs. This will allow to obtain new varieties with lower susceptibility to chilling injuries, which will recover and increase exports of this type of fruit.
