Stone Fruit Breeding Program

The improvement of peaches poses a challenge due to the narrow genetic base of the varieties, the plant size and differences in the expression of certain features between juvenile and adult trees. Peach consumption has remained low and stable, so the challenge is to re- attract consumers, offering good quality products.

The objective of this program is to enhance the Peach/Nectarine Genetic Improvement Program through the Marker Assisted Selection Technology Association and Strategy for National and International Management for the Linking of New Varieties.
