Non-transgenic Flowering Protocol

Chile needs access to commercially attractive varieties to maintain leadership in the fresh fruit global market . However, the germplasm of interest tends to be available only through restrictive agreements and the development of new fruit varieties is slow, obtaining the evaluation of fruits after 3 years.

The aim of this subproject is to accelerate genetic improvement programs by shortening the juvenile time of trees and accelerating flowering. For this purpose, it is intended to generate a flowering induction platform in early development trees, without resorting to the generation of transgenic trees.
