Genome IV – Table Grape

Shattering is a significant problem that manifests predominantly when associated with cold stored fruit. No information is available regarding plant breeding for this quality, or evidence of genes or proteins that may be involved. In practice, intermediate selections are discarded in the early stages of evaluation.

The proposed solution for this project corresponds to SNP markers (specific variations of the genome that can be analyzed by PCR methods) that are able to recognize these allelic variants to help the table grape Table Grape Breeding Program  to make an early selection of selected genotypes, thereby optimizing available resources.
