Genome III – Cherry Trees

Chile needs a genetic improvement program that generates cherry varieties adapted to the conditions of the national industry. This will help to maintain its global competitiveness, it will extend the period and harvest area and have excellent postharvest varieties.

This project seeks to develop technical capacities to offer alternative solutions to problems such as resistance to viral pathogens and lack of cold winter temperatures. In the longer term, the technique will allow the creation of better postharvest fruits and varieties with different periods of production.
