Table Grape Genetic Improvement

Chile is the world’s largest exporter of table grapes, concentrating 89% of the production/export in five varieties, all provided by American genetic improvement programs. This establishes a problem for Chile, as we depend on the varieties created by foreign genetic improvement programs for the supply of table grapes.

The project seeks to develop promissory lines of table grapes adapted to local production conditions, low labor requirement, good transportation and storage conditions, seedless,  firm and tasty berries of large caliber, generating grapes of different colors and with different times of maturity.
