Cherry Dormancy Markers
In phenomena such as cold requirement and release of dormancy, QTL (Quantitative Trait Locus) functional results and analysis suggest that epigenetic changes might have a relevant role, namely interactions between environment and genotype that lead to modifications at the DNA structure level, such as chromatin remodeling and heritable DNA methylation.
The aim of this subproject is to develop molecular markers associated with flowering time, cold requirements and harvest period of sweet cherries, to support improvement programs and the development of varieties that expand the supply of cherries.
