Innovation strategies such as classic and molecular   genetic improvement are innovation strategies that have been promoted for years to generate new varieties of commercial interest. A gene responsible for seeds in table grapes has been identified and a platform of genetic transformation of this powerful species has been developed worldwide.

This project proposed to exercise this knowledge and skills to generate a new variety, validate a patentable technology, and develop useful new strategies to improve qualities such as berry size, maturity date and postharvest preservation, all affected in some degree by the presence or absence of seeds.
